Ming Planter and Champagne Cooler
Design by Studio Job
Ming is a vase-shaped design object with an opening that make it a champagne cooler or a housing for plants and succulents. Honoring one of last great ancient Chinese dynasties, Ming is the result of Studio Job’s re-reading of the typical chinese porcelain vase, an ancient symbol of oriental culture, usually decorated with depictions of dragons, animals, and flowers.
In 1998 Job Smeets Nynke Tynagel founded Studio Job, a creative hub based in Netherlands where traditional and modern come together to produce once- in-a-lifetime objects characterized by a strong love for details, freedom of expression and a blend of 2D and 3D. Extravagant and cartoon-like products made them pioneers in contemporary conceptual and sculptural design scene.
